From 1984 to 1986, Cooksey portrayed Sam McKinney in comedy series Diff’rent Strokes. The show was aired on NBC from November 3, 1978, to May 4, 1985, and on ABC from September 27, 1985, to March 7, 1986. Well, Cooksey acted alongside the late Conrad Bain, Gary Coleman, who starred as Arnold Jackson, Dana Plato as Kimberly Drummond, and among others.

Additionally, he portrayed Bobby Budnick Salute Your Shorts. In the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Cooksey acted as a friend to John Connor. Consequently, He also lent his voice to the Kids’ WB animated series Static Shock as Francis Stone/Hotstreak.
