She reported for “CBS Evening News” and was a business correspondent for six years, reporting on various economic issues and on events in general around South America. One of her first notable projects came when she investigated the Tri-Border region of South America and their connection with Islamic terrorists groups, which got her an Emmy nomination. She also reported on the three major hurricanes of 2005, and the Enron scandal.

Regan started gaining popularity and her net worth increased significantly as part of CNBC, where she hosted a daily market show, and did long form programming in a documentary style. She was responsible for creating CNBC specials such as “Marijuana Inc: Inside America’s Pot Industry” which became the most watched special in the history of the network. This led to her being nominated for a Best Documentary Emmy Award. She also worked on the documentary “Against the Tide: The Battle for Near Orleans” which tackled events after Hurricane Katrina, and which also received an Emmy nomination. She continued to cover major events as her career progressed, including events in banking and subsequent recession from 2007 to 2009. She also reported on the economic state of Brazil, Europe, and South America.

Trish then joined Bloomberg Television, on which she was given a daily global market show called “Street Smart with Trish Regan”.
